Registry Modifications

Thom and I made some modifications to our Macy's registry today. My Mom brought a few things to my attention, like taking advantage of the sets of cookware instead of asking for individual pieces. Thanks Mom!

We just need to find a gravy boat (of all things) to add and we should be done with our Macy's Wish List.

The goal is to start the registry at Target this week.

Another Possible Rehersal Dinner Spot

Last weekend we took Dad-Ross out to dinner at Copper Canyon Brewery for Father's Day. After we all enjoyed a yummy dinner and some great beer, I asked our server for info on having our Rehearsal Dinner there. We spoke with the manager, and he gave us a packet of information on banquets. The food options sounded good, and the location is perfect, just a few moments from the Hotel.

We met Andy and Christy for a few beers this weekend in Downtown Farmington, and got contact information for Cowely's and Sons Irish Pub. They have a beautiful restaurant below the pub where we could possibly have the dinner.

Thom and I were at Uptown Grill this weekend while we celebrated Thom's Birthday. I picked up a card there too, to call and get some details on their banquet offers.

We need to figure out the Rehearsal Dinner location, so we can get going on the invitations.

CAKE Design

A few days after we gave Kristin some ideas of what we wanted our wedding cake to look like, she came into work with a sketch of her design. She totally took everything Thom and I had asked for to the next level. The drawing looked awesome, and all of the little extra touches she plans to add to the cake are going to be great.

We are still discussing cake and frosting flavors. Thom has really been enjoying the sample cake she made for us. She is going to make another sample of the same cake with a different frosting, but just a cupcake this time. We can’t be eating cake everyday until the wedding – some of us have to fit into a dress J

After designing the cake, she realized she would need a frosting that would hold up better to the structure. Good thing she knows what she is talking about, because all Thom and I know is the cake is going to taste delicious.

Wedding Registry Continued

Thom and I made it out to Macy’s after the Engagement pictures in the park. After researching the China, we felt a little more knowledgeable walking in this time around. We took several laps around the dinnerware department, and we finally found a set of China we liked. And wouldn’t you know it wasn’t any of the China we had looked at on-line. So much for research!

The ladies working in the registry department at Macy’s were helpful, and they set up our dinnerware set so we could look at it on a table and not on the shelf. Seeing it placed out really helped to finalize the decision.

We went with a “Casual China”, mainly meaning there is no metal rim. Our plan is to use this set of dinnerware for everyday use as well as special events. It is simple enough to use on a daily bases, and classy enough to be dressed up for special occasions.

Since they did not have all of the pieces of the set at the store, we still need to go on-line and enter in a few things. We also looked at towels while we were there, but didn’t scan any of those either.

We just need to finish up our registry at Macy’s on-line, and then we can start on the next store…

My Dress Has Arrived

My Dress is here! She arrived on Monday, and I went to check on her yesterday, it just so happens that Linds and I had planned on meeting up there.

BEE-UT-TA-FUL… that’s all I can say. She was just as I ordered, and fit pretty well. Depending on what shoes I end up going with, she might not even need to be hemmed.

Speaking of shoes I had bough a pair just last week, but I was not 100% sure they were exactly what I wanted. I brought them with me to Kray Chic and solidified the fact that they were not what I wanted. They just did not look right with the dress. So the search continues.

All the girls were there, minus Lacey who is recovering from a root canal. And Shelly came along for the ride too. They all really liked the dress, as if they would dear to tell me other wise :) Shelly and Lindsay took some pictures of me in the dress. Once I get those, I’ll forward them along. If you want to see the pics just let me know, because I can’t post them here on the Blog because Thom might see.

Bride's Maids Dresses and Necklaces

Lindsay and I had planned to stop at Kray Chic this week for her to try on her dress with the sashes and the necklace. Since we were going to be trying the necklaces I figured we should ask all of the girls to come to give their opinion. That’s how we ended up the tribe of ladies at Kray Chic.

Lindsay and Devin tried on their dresses. Both of the girls look really nice in the dresses, and they both seemed to like them.

The infamous sashes look good with the dress (thank goodness)! Larry at Kray Chic gave us a pointer on how to tie the sashes so they will look good on the girls while they are walking down the aisle and look good for the pictures after the ceremony.

The necklaces did not look too good with the dresses and sashes. So those are getting returned and the hunt will continue. Thom got his Mom a nice handmade necklace for Christmas this past year, so I think I will go talk to that lady and see if she could make something for the girls.

Candle Miss-Hap

Remember I said “fingers crossed” that the candles would be the right color… well someone must not have been crossing their fingers.

I ordered some tester candles in various sizes to play around with until we came up with an arrangement we liked. I ordered them all in one shade of green, but only 3 of the 4 sets I ordered came in the shade I ordered. But that didn’t matter because the shade I ordered is not the right color.

When I opened the box all I did was take a deep breath. Devin was over when I opened the package and all she did was laugh at me. :)

I just need to return the “celery green” candles and order the “green tea” candles. Hopefully “green tea” will be more like our shade.

Engagement Pictures in the Park

We had a fun time on Sunday with Bobby and his assistants Ryan and Vanessa at Heritage Park. It was a little awkward to pose for photos, but it really helped that Bobby was so easy to hang out with.

He related to Thom and explained that he takes pictures, because he prefers to be on the other side of the lens. But he did have to sternly convince Thom to smile a few times. Not that I can say much, because he asked me to look lovingly at Thom and I made a really silly face.

Bobby had a super fast turn around and has posted some of his photos on his website. He did say he still wanted to do a few touch ups. Also Bobby is still collecting Ryan's and Vanessa's photos to post to the site.

I like the photos so much it was hard to choose a favorite. But this is one of my top choices...

Take a look at all of our engagement photos on Bobby's website: http://www.bobbyalcott.com/proofs/ross-godward-engagement/index.html If you open the picture you can right click it and save it to your computer, but you might want to wait a week or so to give him time for touch ups and to post the other photos.

Bobby and his assistants have acquired a studio, and he has invited us to another Engagement photo session in the studio. Maybe we will take those pictures near the end of June. Does that mean more shopping for new outfits? :)

Registry Research

I have been researching things for our registry. Thom and I were a bit overwhelmed at the Macy's event, so I am trying to prepare us for Round 2.

I can't tell you how many different place settings I have looked at on-line. I put together a list of options I liked and then Thom helped me narrow it down. But we have managed to narrow it down to three or four patterns. The plan is to stop in at Macy's after the Engagement Pics on Sunday to have another go at the China selection.

We have also looked at bedding and towels. We both agree on the things we need, now its just a matter of agreeing on what exactly we want.

CAKE!

Thom and I are going to have Kristin Buza, my friend and co-worker make our cake. She has aspirations to open her own bakery, and always brings yummy things into work for us to sample.

She has made some great looking wedding cakes in the past, and really wanted to bust into the wedding cake biz. Thom and I are all for helping out a local entrepreneur!

To give her an idea of what we were looking for, I showed her some pictures of cakes we liked. She seemed excited by our ideas and is going to draw up a few examples for us.

Today she brought a sample of one of her best cakes for Thom and I to try. It was super delicious!!!! She is also going to try a few new recipes and make some more samples for us.

Sorry, but the flavor of the cake is going to be a surprise, so you don’t get to know yet.

Candles for Center Pieces Ordered

The army of bargain hunters was not able to find candles for the center pieces around town. Not that we didn’t try, it might just in fact be that the bride had an idea in her mind and was not totally happy with the selection around town. :)

Luckily, I was able to find some type of a candle warehouse on the Internet. Since they will be shipped I figure I should order then soon, so they are not sitting in the back of a mail truck in the middle of August melting away.

The on-line candle warehouse had an awesome selection of sizes, and what appeared to be the right color – fingers crossed.

We are going to have a nice mini bon-fire going at the tables!

Preparing for Engagement Pics

Thom and I were out shopping last night for some new digs for him to wear for our Engagement Pics this weekend. He is going to look so handsome :) Papa even got a new pair of shoes.

I changed my mind and I am going to wear a different outfit then I originally planned. And of course Mama needed a new pair of shoes too! :)

We will be meeting Bobby, our photographer, at Heritage Park on Sunday afternoon for our photo secession. We are super excited!

Registry Started...

Thom and I had a good time at the "Sip and Scan" event at Macy's this week. We had dinner at their Bistro, home of the famous Maurice salad. While we ate, we went over the check list Macy's gave us at the event check in. I brought a check list we created too. We kind of had an idea of what we wanted to register for at Macy's but we really were not prepared for this event.

We did manage to register for the one main thing I had been researching, cookware! But that is about all we got done. The product rep for the cookware was this cute old lady. She was so excited to hear that I would be doing the cooking, she told us that in all of the other couples she had talked to that night the man was cooking. Thom jumped in to explain his contribution was doing the dishes, and that really made her day. She nudged me and said, "Hold on to him forever." - Oh Thom, always the ladies man :)

Throughout the event there was a waitress walking around with food, drinks, and desserts. It was quite nice, and the waitress was pretty funny. The desserts were yummy and the drinks were tasty too.

After the cookware we hit a road block at the china. We blame ignorance and lack of preparation for just flat out being stumped on the china. We talked to a few sales reps and got an idea of what we were looking for, and even called Christie (Thom's Sister) to ask her some questions. I have been looking at the china on-line, and plan to make an appointment at Macy's soon to hopefully finish registering there.

Our registry is not visible on-line or in the stores yet. We hope to finish registering for everything at Macy's and the others stores by the end of June.
